Kenya’s thoughts reprinted from GTU news
KENYA'S THOUGHTS
Seven years ago Jamal and I sought out to teach kids how to have success on the basketball court. Somewhere along the road our mission changed from teaching kids about basketball to sharing this journey with families and using our influence to aim and inspire kids to strive for greatness off the court. Jamal and I have been blessed. We both come from some of the toughest parts of LA. and through basketball have seen other countries, competed against current NBA champions, and are part of something special in this Eugene, Springfield community. In our heart of hearts we want your kids to succeed. We are committed to this for the rest of our lives. We are all in and we love it. We recognized that we spend time everyday with your most valuable possession's and will continue to make the most of this privileged position. We are very excited about today, tomorrow and the future of Game Time Basketball U.
The most exciting thing is that we have only scratched the surface of the type of organization Game Time will become. We see glimpses of our programs potential when we see a kid who at one point got C's in school ,now getting A's and B's. We saw another glimpse of GTU's potential at our 1st Annual Auction with Mike Belloti's Speech and even more powerful Alisen's speech, which if you did not notice brought me to tears. GTU is something special and we love it. As one dear parent and friend said to me, we must always get the ship across the water to the other side, and when we get there we can then decide where we what to take it next. Right now the ship is sailing and the view is gorgeous.
BE LED BY YOU DREAMS, NOT PUSHED BY YOUR PROBLEMS.
